What we do

The Community Council is actively engaged in protecting and improving the quality of life for all those living or working in the communities of Staffordshire by promoting self-help initiatives within communities, especially those in rural areas.  


Our aims are to:


  • Provide a wide range of advice, information and support for voluntary groups.
  • Liaise between the statutory and voluntary sectors at all levels and across a wide range of subjects including environmental issues, affordable rural housing, health and community care, education, training, transport, village halls, shops, post offices, and all other rural issues.
  • Assimilate information on such services and needs in order to react positively and appropriately to influence any remedial action that may be required.  


Our work includes:


  • Monitoring and supporting rural services and facilities, such as, affordable housing, transport, shops, post offices and public houses.
  • Administration of the Community Bulk Oil Buying Scheme.
  • Providing information and advice to village halls.
  • Keeping up to date with new legislation, such as, the Localism Act, licensing, etc.
  • Support and guidance to community groups
  • Charities advice and guidance on funding and fundraising
  • Guidance and support to parish and town councils on all aspects of community development including parish plans
  • Working in South Staffordshire to promote the “Good Life”.
  • Administration of the Best Kept Village Competition and complimentary competitions.
  • Undertaking community engagement and consultation work on behalf of other agencies or local authorities.
  • Promoting village festivals and events.
